What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is an umbrella program funded by the European Union that covers the fields of Education, Youth, and Sports. The primary aim of the Erasmus+ Program is to equip individuals, regardless of their age or educational background, with new skills, enhance their personal development, and increase their employment opportunities. The program's total budget for 2021-2027 across Europe is €28.4 billion.
You can access all activities under the Erasmus+ Program on the European Commission’s official page: [https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/](https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/)

In Turkey, the institution responsible for coordinating the Erasmus+ program is the European Union Education and Youth Programs Center (Turkish National Agency), which operates under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

What are the activities in Higher Education (Universities)?

Higher education institutions can participate in Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals, Key Action 2: Cooperation among Organizations and Institutions, and Jean Monnet activities.
There are two types of mobility under Higher Education: Student Mobility and Staff Mobility. The aim of these activities is to enhance the competencies of higher education students and staff, offering them professional development opportunities abroad. This supports students in acquiring the necessary skills for transitioning from education to work, and it helps higher education staff gain practical experience or enhance their pedagogical skills.

Student Mobility: This involves higher education students studying at a foreign higher education institution or undertaking an internship at a company or organization abroad.

Staff Mobility: This allows academic staff to teach at a foreign higher education institution or enables both academic and administrative staff to participate in professional development activities abroad, such as training courses or job-shadowing (excluding conferences).

*Blended Mobility: Blended Mobility, which includes both physical and virtual components, is applicable for both student and staff mobilities. Blended Intensive Programs (BIP) are mobility activities with physical and virtual components that are carried out jointly by at least three higher education institutions holding an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). These programs are valid for both student and staff mobility.

*Doctoral Mobility: To better meet the learning and training needs of doctoral candidates and ensure equal opportunities, doctoral candidates and recent graduates (post-docs) can engage in short-term or long-term physical learning or internship mobility abroad.
