Materials Delayed, Worn Out and Lost

It is essential that all of the resources in the library are made available to as many users as possible within the specified periods. In order to ensure that library users use the resources efficiently, sanctions/penalties are mandatory.

Materials Not Returned on Time

  • Daily overdue fines will be applied for materials not returned to the library on the due date. Overdue fines will be applied for each hour that reserve materials are not returned on time.
  • Overdue fines apply on days when the library is open.
  • Overdue fines cannot be canceled. The staff in charge of information services or other library staff have no authority to cancel or postpone overdue fines.
  • Overdue fines have started to be applied and users who do not pay the overdue fine cannot borrow books from the library.
  • For general collection materials, a penalty of 1 TL per day will be applied for each delayed return, and for reserve collection materials, a penalty of 1 TL per hour will be applied for each delayed return.

Worn Out and Lost Materials

  • In case of loss or damage to borrowed materials, it is essential that the same publication is obtained by the user and delivered to the Library.
  • For such publications delivered to the library, a transaction fee of 15 TL per publication is charged for barcodes, security tapes, etc.
  • If a publication lost by the user cannot be obtained due to reasons such as out of print, not available for sale, etc., the user pays twice the current price of this publication to the Library. Materials not provided by the user;
    • If the return date of the material has not expired: double the price of the material + processing fee (15 TL)
    • If the material is overdue: late fee + double the price of the material + processing fee (15 TL)
  • While calculating the fees of publications obtained from abroad, the calculation is made based on the exchange rate announced by the Central Bank on that day.
  • Students who are eligible for graduation and students and staff who leave the University for any reason must be dismissed from the Library. Users in this situation should not have any borrowed publications or overdue fines in their Library accounts.
